Georgia Rina [PhD in Anthropology, University of Ioannina]. Georgia Rina spoke about her career and how as a woman she survives in a male-dominated workplace such as business, highlighting strategies, obstacles and successes of women entrepreneurs. She also spoke about the transferable skills she used to make the career shift from Academia to Sales and the Business world.

 

Katerina Konstantinidou [Photographer and Social media manager]: The speaker shared how her love for photography evolved into a successful professional career by talking about her personal career path and the transferable skills needed in the art and social media space as well as her reputation as a good student. She explained that she was not an excellent student, however she discovered her interests and aptitudes early on and nurtured them through the art of photography and the corresponding training.

First, the guests were welcomed, introduced, and asked to fill in the signature list. Then, the Chameleon project, run by the IASIS NGO, was presented. The audience was then asked to brainstorm on transferable skills. For 50 minutes, the guests discussed their particular career paths and the difficulties they faced in changing careers. Afterwards, the facilitator provided the participants with the chameleon exercise on transferable skills. At the end, there was an open discussion and debriefing, and the participants were asked to fill in the Chameleon questionnaire.

The event took place at the IASIS AT WORK employee support centre in Thessaloniki, which is accessible to all and equipped with digital facilities such as internet access and interactive presentation tools.
