The foundation of the University of Naples Federico II dates back to the generalis lictera of the Swabian Emperor on June 5, 1224. It is divided into 3 Poles, 13 Faculties (Agriculture, Architecture, Economics, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Humanities, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnological Sciences, Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, Political Science and Sociology), 77 departments, 42 Research and Service Centers, 2 Botanical Gardens. The Federico II is the oldest public university in the world, renowned for the very high qualification of its Faculties both scientific and humanities, and is the largest research center in Southern Italy.
