●INTEGRATION of the MOOC and the Virtual Role-Playing Game
●LEARINIG BY DOING for digital, entrepreneurial and green skills.
Specific objectives
This work package consists of a Serious game design creation.
The Serious game is based on a role-play simulation, where the player interacts with an avatar (led by artificial intelligence) based on the scenarios delivered by co-design events applying a user-centered methodology.
This work package aims at:
- Designing the CHAMELEON app, a role-playing game to be embedded in the MOOC
- Involving students in the co-design of the game scenarios
- Translate the CHAMELEON serious game in all the languages of the Consortium (English, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian and Greek)
- Making the CHAMELEON APP available on the common smartphone/tablet
The role-play puts the user in a position to reflect on the lessons learnt in the MOOC and apply some elements previously seen in the videos and slides of the course. At the same time, some actions, crucial in career choices in an innovative and sustainable way, will be required, impacting the game.
The CHAMELEON game will have a double nature:
- On one hand the software will be integrated with the MOOC to be fully embedded in the learning course as a web app.
- On the other hand the game will be freely usable outside the course. It will be played by any external user who wants to test their skills or train themselves.
This double diffusion strategy is oriented to the wide dissemination of the project results allowing autonomous and ubiquitous play and mobile game-based learning. Alongside the Schools, VET and career guidance centers can provide this tool and implement it in their guidance practices.
Outcomes
The main result of this work package is CHAMELEON Serious Game co-designed with the students. The serious game will allow the user to face real situations (in a simulated way). The scenarios are co-created during the national events with the high school students, who are final users.
Innovative aspects:
- the design of this Serious Game as a module of an Online Course, representing its laboratory session, where the learner can practice the enhanced skills and test its behaviors in a safe environment interacting with avatars.
- Data sharing of Serious game and the MOOC to act at twin levels.
On one hand, the MOOC brings the information about the previous modules, with the data collected from the interim learning evaluation, that will have a specific role to personalize and adapt the role playing in the game. (For example, if a learner in the MOOC shows a strong ability in digital skills but limited results in entrepreneurial skills, the game will be focused on scenarios aimed to improve entrepreneurial skills.)
On the other hand, the Serious game provides the MOOC with new data about the interactions and the behaviors with the virtual avatars, proposing the modules based on the results obtained during the game.
